IATF 16949 Consulting Services

Each project is tailored to your organization's situation, size, and stage of readiness — scoped to what you actually need, not a fixed package.

Gap Analysis
A structured assessment of your current quality management practices against IATF 16949 requirements — including ISO 9001 base requirements, automotive-specific additions, and applicable customer-specific requirements. Delivered as a detailed gap report with a prioritized action plan so you know exactly what needs to be addressed and in what order.
Automotive QMS Development & Implementation
End-to-end support to build your automotive Quality Management System from the ground up — or strengthen an existing one. This includes quality policy and objectives, process documentation, product safety requirements, customer-specific requirement integration, and management review support.
Core Tools Support
IATF 16949 requires integration of the AIAG automotive core tools — APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC. We provide practical support to implement these tools correctly within your QMS, ensuring your processes meet both the standard's requirements and your customers' expectations.
Internal Audit
Expert-led internal audits covering audit planning, document and records review, process and product audits, customer-specific requirement compliance, and a full audit report with corrective action guidance — identifying nonconformities and closing gaps before your external certification audit.
Certification Audit Preparation
Targeted preparation for Stage 1 and Stage 2 certification audits — including a pre-audit readiness review, documentation checks, corrective action resolution, and coaching for your team on what auditors look for and how to respond to findings.
Ongoing System Maintenance
Monthly, quarterly, or on-demand support to keep your automotive QMS current and effective — covering documentation updates, corrective action management, customer-specific requirement changes, sanctioned interpretation updates, and preparation for surveillance audits. Fully flexible and scoped to match your organization's needs.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does IATF 16949 consulting involve?

IATF 16949 consulting covers the full scope of building and certifying an automotive Quality Management System — from an initial gap analysis identifying where your current practices fall short of requirements, through QMS development, core tools implementation, customer-specific requirement integration, internal audits, and certification audit preparation. The scope of each engagement is tailored to your organization's size, supply chain position, customer base, and timeline.

Who needs IATF 16949 certification?

IATF 16949 applies to manufacturers of automotive production, service, and accessory parts — including Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 suppliers in the automotive supply chain. Certification is effectively mandatory for Tier 1 suppliers working directly with major OEMs such as General Motors, Ford, Stellantis, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen, and is increasingly expected at Tier 2 and Tier 3 levels as OEMs extend quality requirements further down the supply chain.

What are customer-specific requirements and how do they affect certification?

Customer-specific requirements (CSRs) are additional quality system requirements published by individual OEMs — such as General Motors, Ford, or Stellantis — that suppliers must meet on top of the base IATF 16949 standard. CSRs vary significantly between customers and cover areas such as PPAP documentation formats, APQP timelines, supplier performance metrics, and audit requirements. Organizations supplying multiple OEMs must manage multiple sets of CSRs simultaneously, which adds significant complexity to the certification process. We help you map and integrate all applicable CSRs into your QMS.

How is consulting pricing structured?

We do not offer fixed packages because no two organizations are in the same situation. Pricing is based on the scope of work identified through the gap analysis and our initial consultation — covering the size and complexity of your organization, the services required, and the timeline.
